Zimbabwe's newly sworn in president Emmerson
Mnangagwa has named his cabinet, appointing military men who supported his rise to power into
high-profiled positions.
Mr Mnangagwa has appointed General Sibusiso Moyo, the general who announced the Zimbabwean military takeover on state TV as the new minister of foreign affairs.
The head of Zimbabwe's air force, Perence Shiri, was named the minister of agriculture and land affairs. Mr Mnangagwa who was sworn in last week after former President Robert Mugabe agreed to resign. While the new president has chosen to reinstate many of Mugabe's former ministers in office, Mr Mnangagwa has also awarded some positions to the military men who supported him during the zimbabwean military takeover, thereby leading many to believe of a conspiracy between the new president and the Zim Army.
Aside from those two senior military figures, some leaders and members of the powerful war veterans' association of Zimbab, who advocated that Ex President Mugabe should go after the military intervention were also appointed on the cabinet.
Chris Mutsvangwa, head of the group, is now the minister of information.
The appointments has led some government critic like; Tendai Biti to suggest that Zimbabweans were "wrong" to have hoped for change.
Mr Mnangagwa who had fled Zimbabwe earlier this month return to a hero's welcome. His dismissal as vice-president occur after he was accused of plotting to usurp Robert Mugabe.
Despite pledging a "loyalty & new destiny" for Zimbabwe, Mr Mnangagwa is still being with some of the worst atrocities committed under the ruling Zanu-PF party since the country gained her independence in 1980.
